Urdd

urddUrdd activities figure prominently in school life and members have an annual opportunity to participate in various competitions, either at Eisteddfodau or in Art competitions.

Key Stage 2 pupils participate in Urdd sports competitions such as football, rugby, net-ball, swimming, gymnastics and athletics.

Year 6 attend the Urdd Camp at Glanllyn every September.

Every other year, years 5 and 6 stay at the Urdd Camp, Cardiff, during their visit to the capital city.

Year Six’s visit to Glanllyn
Blwyddyn 6
Year six pupils spent three adventure packed days in Glanllyn. They had fun participating in various activities such as canoeing, raft building, swimming, climbing, orienteering, ten pin bowling and the high ropes coure.

The Urdd branch will be held at the school hall for pupils in years 4-6.

The group meet once every half-term between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.

Parents organize the activities. The Organizers for 2012-13 are Julia Hughes and Tegwen Hughes

Urdd County Eisteddfod
Some of the pupils were extremely busy during the Regional Eisteddfod at Bangor. Many successes were had as well as some disappointments – that is the nature of the Eisteddfod!

Congratulations to Deio Llŷr on winning the Cerdd Dant and Brass Solo.
First again for the Band and onwards to the National Eisteddfod in Pembrokeshire.

Best of luck with the competing at the Eryri County Eisteddfod at PJ Hall Bangor University on the 16/3/12

The end of a very busy and successful term arrived bringing to a close the
local and regional Urdd competitions. Over 70 pupils competed in the local
Eisteddfod at Brynrefail. Many pupils were successful and it was great to
see every one giving of their best. The regional Eisteddfod at P.J. Hall Bangor and Disco Dancing at Dyffryn Ogwen saw excellent performances once again.

Congratulations to Deio (Yr.5) on winning the Cerdd Dant Solo Under 12;
Ynyr (Yr 5) for winning the String Solo under 12; Ela, Lois, Dafydd and Deio for winning the Ensemble and the Band for gaining first prize in the
Band/Orchestra section once again this year. Congratulations to Ela (Cofi
Clogs) on her success in the stepping competition. Best wishes to you all in the National Eisteddfod at Glynllifon.

The pupils also had great success in the Art and Craft competitions. It is a

The Urdd National Eisteddfod is literally on our doorstep this year in Glynllifon Park. As well as the excitement of the competing pupils have been busy rehearsing for the Primary Pageant. The rehearsals are held weekly here at Bontnewydd or in neighboring schools. This year’s organizer is Mr Ken Hughes. It promises to be an excellent show!

The Urdd Football Tournamentteam

A warm congratulations to the football team that competed in the Urdd Football Tournament on Tuesday, 24th of April. The team played extremely well, winning two and drawing two games. Thanks to Mr Euros Jones for training the squad.

Every year pupils from Year 6 attend the Urdd camp at Glanllyn, Bala.
Every other year pupils from Years 5 and 6 attend the Urdd Camp in Cardiff as part of their visit to the capital.
