Egg hunt

The reception class pupils had great fun finding different coloured eggs on the school yard. As all the eggs had different numbers on them, the children decided to cooperate and order them from the smallest number to the largest.

Key Stage 2 Christmas Party

All pupils in Key Stage 2 had a great time in their class Christmas party and then enjoyed watching a Christmas film / pantomime in their individual classes. It was a lovely way to end a very busy term. Merry Christmas.

Foundation Phase Christmas Party

All pupils from the Foundation Phase had a great time in their class Christmas party. They all enjoyed playing games, dancing and eating plenty of food and drink. It was a lovely way to end a very busy term.

Reception ‘Science and Technology’ project

The Reception class pupils enjoyed their Christmas ‘Science and Technology’ project. Father Christmas asked the pupils to design and create a sledge and some Christmas trees for him as he had caught a cold. The pupils were excited to display their trees around the school.

Rocket making

plantElidir class pupils have thoroughly enjoyed writing instructions on how to make model rockets. They then co-operated with a partner to create the model before having a fun afternoon trying them out.



Eco Council gardening with Anna

plantAnna Williams and her colleague came to school on Monday, the 7th of December, to assist the Eco Council with the gardening. The members were all busy weeding and replanting new shrubs in the Cottage Garden. The area looks much better thanks to Anna and the Eco crew. We are all looking forward to spring term now.

The Reception class had an exciting afternoon. They all thoroughly enjoyed the experience of going for a walk to post a very special Christmas card.

Children in Need Day 2020 – KS2

This year, Pudsey is 40 years old so Bontnewydd School children decided to join in the 'Act Your Age' challenge by doing various activities for a number of minutes which was equivalent to their age. KS2 pupils decided to take part in several activities during the day. These included staying silent, throwing and bouncing a ball, reading, creating maths sums with answers that matched their age and running around the school. They had great fun whilst also remembering the reason behind it all. As a school, we raised £ 325.22 for the charity Children in Need. Thank you all for your support

Children in Need Day 2020 – Foundation Stage Children

The Foundation Phase children had great fun taking part in various 'Act Your Age' activities today during Children in Need Day. Each class had decided on various activities including bouncing a ball, running around the track and bouncing a ball on a parachute for as many minutes as their age. As a school, we’ve raised £325.22 for the Children in Need Charity. Many thanks for all your support.

As part of their work on the theme 'Second World War', Yr Wyddfa class have created a Remembrance Wall of Art. They've thoroughly enjoyed taking part and it was lovely to look at today as we all took time to remember on Remembrance Day.

Trfyan class learning to tell the time

Tryfan class have been learning to tell the time on the clock. They created a big clock on the floor of the hall and some of them used their bodies as the clock hands. It was great fun.

Thank you Mrs Susan Williams for an interesting online Thanksgiving Service. We thoroughly enjoyed discussing the important message. Because of Covid-19 safety regulations, unfortunately we couldn’t join in the singing but nevertheless we took part and mimed instead. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

It’s certainly been a busy half term since we all returned to School in September. While a few things are different because of Covid-19 safety procedures, it’s lovely being back together again learning and having fun with friends.

Foundation Stages visit to Caernarfon Castle on 4th of March

Pupils of the Foundation Stage had a memorable experience recently in Caernarfon Castle. They had the opportunity to sing with the composer Elidyr Glyn and pupils from three other local schools. The event was filmed by the S4C programme ‘Heno’. Everybody enjoyed the unique experience.

St Davids Day Service

A St David’s Day service was held today by pupils of Aran 1 class. Parents and friends of the pupils joined in the celebrations.

 


PC Dylan Pritchard

PC Dylan Pritchard visited the school to speak to the pupils about staying safe online and using mobile phones safely.


On Wednesday morning January 15, year 3 an4 pupils from ysgol y Gelli came to visit Tryfan pupils.

The children sang their respective school anthems to each other; both anthems written by Mei Mac and the pupils of each school. The we sang the national anthem ‘Hen wlad fy Nhadau ‘ together before having a little time to socialise.
A wonderful morning’s activities!


Caernarfon Castle - 16th of January 2020

Mr John Dilwyn Williams from Gwynedd Council Archives and Museums’ Education Service visited the school to discuss history with Aran 1 and 2 pupils. As part of our thematic work this term, Mr Williams prepared an interesting Powerpoint presentation on the history of Caernarfon Castle over seven hundred years. The main aim of the visit was to raise pupils’ awareness of their heritage and culture. The pupils listened carefully and responded to pictures and questions enthusiastically. Well done and thank you Mr Williams for visiting us at Ysgol Bontnewydd.
